La Salle X DesignStudio
Earlier this month, 22 college-aged digital design students and three professors from Mexico braved the New York January weather to visit DesignStudio New York. Mexico City school Universidad La Salle offers high school, Bachelor, and Masters degrees in many pre-professional and liberal arts subjects including digital design. A unique feature of the graphic design program, La Salle runs a career exploration program that flies over a dozen students from Mexico City to New York to visit and learn about different creative industries and job possibilities that are available to the students after graduation.
For the third year in a row, DesignStudio New York opened our studio to eager students and gave them an inside look at the DS creative process. Senior designer Ty Eldridge and senior strategist Shelby Williamson walked the La Salle group through our recently released OrangeTheory case study, discussing everything from the three originally presented creative routes and the strategic brief to the campaign rollout that DS spearheaded. The students also got a private viewing of DesignStudio New York’s immersion video, usually only seen by the internal team and the clients.
“Overall, it’s fun and motivating to take a group of young and eager designers through our work and talk about DesignStudio in a candid and educational way.” Shelby mentioned after the students had left. After presenting the case study, Shelby and Tyler fielded any and all questions from the students, answering inquiries about the OrangeTheory process, DesignStudio as a global agency, and even about their individual journeys into the branding industry.
“It was great to show students that there are careers and work possibilities all over the world and beyond where they’re from,” Tyler said. “It’s also equally exciting and helpful for us as an agency to see what young talent is out there and what the future of the industry holds.”
